one man’s jet lag is another (wo)man’s treasure

Thank God for jet lag! Brad and I have been up with the sun and clocking 3 miles before the work day begins for the past two days in a row. That may not sound like much of an accomplishment, but it’s HUGE for us. It feels amazing! I know that I have mentioned ad infinitum how much I struggle with waking up early to work out so I will not mention it again (but I do really really really struggle with getting up early to work out). I would like to reiterate, however, that I blame Brad C. Light. (Sorry honey). He is more of a night owl while I am a morning lark, forced by circumstances to stay up when all the other little birdies have gone to sleep.

I get off work. I usually dash to an AMC meeting or rehearsal of some sort. I make it home between 9:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. I cross paths with the person I happen to be living with in the brief moments before bedtime. Of course I draw the moments out. Of course we stay up late. I’ll admit that I’d rather turn in at 11:00, but when Brad asks if I want to watch just one more episode of The X-Files, well what’s a girl to do? Soon enough, it’s 1:30 a.m. and we finally crawl into bed. I simply cannot get up at 7:00 am to run. I can barely wake up at 9:00 a.m. to make it to work. Until…

Viva la France! Since Brad returned stateside on Monday, he is asleep by 11:00, up at 6:00. Amazing! My perfect sleep schedule. He wakes me up at 7:00 a.m. to a hot steaming brew of espresso, we chat for awhile, watch the news, and make it out the door, fully awake, by 8:15 for a 3 mile run. This is exactly what we need to get back on track to Tahiti. Thank you French Riviera. We’ll send you a postcard from French Polynesia.

Greetings from Tahiti!!
